SUMMARY:RV Symphony Presents: Brahms' First Symphony
DESCRIPTION:What's Interesting: Carla Ecker has been the concertmaster of the Rogue Valley Symphony for seven years\, starting her tenure in 2017. Brahms himself declared that the symphony\, from sketches to finishing touches\, took 21 years\, from 1855 to 1876. Johannes Brahms eventually composed a First Symphony that makes countless references to Beethoven. When people remarked about his 4th movement tune that resembles the Ode to Joy\, he said\, "Every jackass notices that!" Between 1965 and 1977 the first movement was used as the opening and closing theme for BBC TV series Going for a Song. The music played along with the sound of a bird in a cage automaton.\n\n\n\nProgram: RESPIGHI: Gli uccelli (The Birds) VAUGHAN-WILLIAMS: The Lark Ascending Carla Ecker\, violin - 20 Min Intermission - BRAHMS: Symphony No. 1 in C Minor Don't miss a pre-concert lecture with Music Director Martin Majkut and our soloist Carla Ecker an hour before the concert time. This concert will last about 1hr\, 45min. Tickets available online\, over the phone\, at our offices in Ashland\, and at the door the night of the concert. $10 Tickets for Students and Oregon Trail Card holders only in office or at the door\, otherwise ranged from $28-$78. Box Office Opens at 1:30pm at the PAC on Sunday the 24th.
