RV Symphony Presents: Masterworks 4: Songs of the Steppes

Back by popular demand: Alexander Sitkovetsky guides us through the colossal story that is Shostakovitch’s First Violin Concerto. The profound tones of the Soviet composer’s “iron man” concerto – dubbed so due to its extreme soloistic demands – come on the heel of Borodin’s lushly grand and triumphant Heroic Symphony.

Program
Alexander Borodin:
Symphony No. 2, “Heroic”
Dmitri Shostakovich:
Violin Concerto No. 1
Alexander Sitkovetsky, violin

Pre-concert talks with Music Director Martin Majkut and Soloist Alexander Sitkovetsky begin one hour prior to performance time.
