Southern Oregon Goodwill's Running Dead 5 K

Regence and Propel Insurance present Goodwill’s Running Dead 5K Oct. 22 at Pear Blossom Park in downtown Medford.

This epic fun run is a fundraiser for Southern Oregon Goodwill's job training programs in Douglas, Jackson, Josephine, Klamath and Lake counties in Oregon and Siskiyou County in California.

Register as a zombie or human to run or walk; register with a horde of friends or co-workers by Oct. 1 and qualify for a $5 team discount.

If you don't run, you can register as a placed zombie and lurk on the course. Each registrant will receive a bib, RD5K commemorative medallion, and a $5 gift certificate valid for food or any beverage at Common Block Brewing Company, host of the post-race Apocalypse Party.

Register by Oct. 1 and you can buy a run T-shirt, including limited edition designs. Online registration ends Oct. 20; onsite registration on the day of the race is available. On race day from 1-3 p.m. Ro Sham Bo Salon will provide free zombie makeup for registered participants.

The Kids Survivor Sprint costs $10 for kids ages 4-8 and starts at 4 p.m. The main event for ages 9 through adult starts at 4:30 p.m. when the humans wearing flag football belts take off. The zombies start the chase two minutes later. Each human runner who finishes the course with at least one flag will have a chance to vie for the Ultimate Survivor title and prizes. The zombie with the most flags will be named King of the Zombies.
