Board of Josephine County Commissioners to host public meeting on Wildfire Hazard Map
JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. — The Board of Josephine County Commissioners is inviting residents to a public meeting regarding the Wildfire Hazard Map.
The meeting will take place August 26 from 1-3 p.m. at the Anne Basker Auditorium, 600 NW 6th St. in Grants Pass. During the meeting, Josephine County commissioners and leaders from more than a dozen other Oregon counties will meet virtually with representatives from Oregon State University and the Oregon Department of Forestry.
While members of the public will not be able to speak at the meeting, residents are encouraged to provide commissioners their questions or comments in writing prior to the meeting.
The draft Wildfire Hazard Map went live for public review and comment July 18. The official draft map can be seen at http://hazardmap.forestry.oregonstate.edu.
Senate Bill 80 Section 1(13)(b) states that “county commissioners, upon request by the county commissioners, must have one additional opportunity, arranged and scheduled by the Association of Oregon Counties, with either in-person attendance or a hybrid of in-person and remote attendance, to discuss concerns about the map and potential changes to the map.”
