The YMCA Active Older Adults Day Trip
Did you know that the Oregon Shakespeare Festival was
founded in 1935 by Angus L. Bowmer and was officially
born on July 2, 1935 with a production of Twelfth Night.
The Tony Award-winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival is
among the oldest and largest professional non-profit
theatres in the nation. If you have not been or have
thought about going join us and be pleasantly surprised
by the outstanding production that you will see there.
This time we will watch A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
“The course of true love never did run smooth” Hermia
loves Lysander, Demetrius loves Hermia, Helena loves
Demetrius, Theseus and Hippolyta are almost newlyweds
and the already-complex marriage of the immortal queen
and king of Fairyland is further complicated when one of
them falls for an amateur actor-turned-ass. Intrigued by
the theory that Shakespeare wrote this play as a wedding
gift, director Joseph Haj probes the pitfalls and pay-offs of
relationships, be they budding or eternal. Seeking out the
grace, beauty and delight embedded in the comedy, this
joyful, music-laden production invites us to feel as well as
laugh.
